River, Here I come

Written by:
Warda Fuwaha

Why do I have to carry a gun?
A weapon that had enslaved my people; took over our land
There is no safety, no rescue, and no life
Is my protector gone?
I have children to feed, people to protect, and shelter to build
I hope to give, love to spread, and hate to defy
I have courage, dignity, and no time for fear
I don’t know my fate at this moment……..
So I must cross this river.

  1. Thank you ya Omer..... Unfortunately, the woman in the photo is an example of what happens to women during times of war or danger.
